Meet Dr. Mustapha Hotait
I come from a family of dentists. My dad is a dentist, my uncle is a dentist, and I was kind of around it from a very young age. And for me, kind of the triggering factor was kind of seeing the people that would come in feeling maybe pain or maybe feeling self-conscious and how they left.
I’ve seen people sit in my chair that wouldn’t look at me when I asked them to smile. They wouldn’t smile. They either tell me they’ve never smiled or they’re embarrassed to smile.
And then after we’re done with the work, they come in completely different people. And they tell me this, okay? They tell me like, hey, doc, you’ve changed my life. I was this way or that way.
And I get to see it. I get to see that transition. And that’s, I feel like it’s very, very rewarding.
I was lucky enough to come to the great state of Michigan, where I went to school at the University of Michigan, got my bachelor’s in biology. And then from there, I got accepted into the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School and spent four years there kind of learning the craft. And from there, I moved to Indiana University, where I kind of focused a little bit on certain types of treatments as far as implants, gum grafting, bone grafting.
And then from there, I was lucky enough to kind of practice in Chicago as well as LA and kind of treated all different type of cases, reconstructions that involve implants, veneers, crowns, bridges, and kind of total makeover, basically. And now I’m married and I want to build a family. And I figured the state of Michigan was great to me.
That’s where most of my family is. I love it here. So I’m kind of coming back home now.
